Sometimes you encounter rifles on which people mounted the rear mounts backwards with windage knobs on the LH side. Adjust the brain 90º to imagine the same stuff effecting elevation.

Unertl then signed with the Las Vegas Gladiators in 2004, but was released during the 2005 season. He was released by the Packers on August 29. Another way I try to remember is that bullet impact will shift in the direction I turn the turrets laterally- turn the turret so its nose is moving to the left or right and bullet impact will follow in that direction. Unertl was re-signed by the Green Bay Packers in the 2003 offseason and was allocated to NFL Europe, where he played for the Frankfurt Galaxy. Ie: cranking the windage knob to the right (clockwise) pushes the rear of the scope to the left while the objective bell pivots to the right, making the barrel point farther to the left in relation to the scope- bullet impact will then shift to the left accordingly. I keep it straight in my head by imagining which way the scope is being pivoted in relation to the direction the barrel is pointed. I too am kind of dyslexic when adjusting my Unertls, Feckers, Litscherts, etc. It's always best to experiment a little in that regard. The older Unertls and Feckers had coarser adjustments that equate to 1/2", of course dependent on the accuracy of the mount spacing. There were actually three successive "John Unertls". By 2008 the company had closed its doors. By 2006 the company had begun marketing firearms in addition to their line of scopes including a civilian copy of the Marine Corps MEU(SOC) pistol and the M40A3 Sniper Rifle. In the early 2000s the Marine Corps began phasing out Unertl Scopes in favor of other scopes like the Schmidt & Bender 3–12×50 Police Marksman II LP. Rocky Greene) and the headquarters was moved to Las Vegas, Nevada. In 2002 the company was purchased by 21st Century Technology, Inc. There is a spring loaded plunger at the 7 o’clock position that hold the scope firmly up against the two adjusters. There are two threaded adjusters that simply move the scope tube up and down and left to right. The scope itself has no internal adjustments like a modern rifle scope. The company was most notable for its MST-100 (7.62mm) and MST-150 (.50 caliber) 10× scope used by the USMC Scout-Sniper program and the first scope to use a Mil-Dot reticle. Unertl type mounts are external adjusting. John Unertl founded the John Unertl Optical Company in 1934 and the company manufactured military sniper scopes during World War II.
